Not all feedback needs to be shared with the candidate — and that’s where private code reviews come in.
In Codebie, reviewers can choose to keep any comment internal-only, visible just to your team.
This is useful for discussing implementation concerns, raising internal red flags, or sharing context that may not be appropriate to send directly to the candidate.
What is a private code review?
A private comment is one that’s only visible to your teammates
It will never be shown to the candidate — even after the assessment is closed
It can be used freely for honest, open communication within the review team
When writing a comment on a line of code, simply select “Private” in the visibility options. You can mix private and public comments in the same review.
When to use private reviews?
Private comments are helpful when:
You want to highlight something for internal discussion
You’re unsure about a candidate’s approach and want a second opinion
You’re flagging a concern that shouldn’t influence the candidate unfairly
You’re coordinating with other reviewers on how to proceed
Private reviews stay within your team — permanently. They give you a safe space to evaluate candidates honestly and collaboratively, without worrying about tone or interpretation.
